SYMPOSIUM: The Future of Asian Art, Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU, 13 May 2011

This symposium investigates the increasingly transnational nature of Asian art and the circulation of artists and art production in multiple global markets. The focus is on Asian diasporic visual culture and the symposium features panels with scholars from the International Network for Diasporic Asian Art Research and the Diasporic Asian Art Network, including the keynote address by INDAAR Convenor Dean Chan and presentations by Alice Ming Wai Jim, Jacqueline Lo, Yu Yeon Kim, Laura Kina, Midori Yoshimoto and Alexandra Chang, with Tom Looser and Margo Machida as discussants.

The event is presented by the Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU in collaboration with the Department of East Asian Studies at NYU and co-sponsored by NYU China House.
